On the NCMA home page, click My Account near the top. You will either log in or register for an account (if it’s your first time logging in).

Please log in with one of the email addresses associated with your membership, as this is how our system will recognize you as a member. You don’t need to know your member number to log in.

Do I need to know my member number?

You don’t need your member number to log in or get tickets. Our online system will match the email you use to log in to your membership account. If you come to the Museum in person, we can look up your membership account by your name.

How do I update my contact information or the names on my membership?

To make any changes to your membership profile, please email us at membership@ncartmuseum.org.

Can I get a refund or transfer my membership?

Memberships are a tax-deductible gift to the Museum; therefore, they are nonrefundable and nontransferable.

What benefits come with my membership?

This chart shows the benefits provided at all membership levels.

Does membership include Art in Bloom tickets?

Art in Bloom is a fundraising event and not a ticketed exhibition included with membership. Members get early access and discounted tickets to Art in Bloom.

What is the best way to get in contact with the membership team?

You can reach the membership team by email (membership@ncartmuseum.org) or phone (919-664-6754) Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm, excluding holidays. We try our best to get back to everyone within one business day.

Visiting

If I order a membership online, how soon can I use it?

Your year of membership begins as soon as your payment is processed. You can start visiting right away!

Digital membership cards are sent within a few days via email, and physical membership cards take up to three weeks via mail. You don’t need your membership card to visit.

When you order a membership online and want to use your member benefits immediately, you must finish the membership transaction and begin a new transaction. When you log in, you will see early access tickets as well as your membership discounts and free special exhibition tickets.

Do I need to reserve member exhibition tickets in advance?

We recommend making an advance reservation if you are visiting during peak times, such as holidays and the opening or closing day of an exhibition. Walk-ups are welcome as long as tickets are available.

Make exhibition ticket reservations

Do I need to make a reservation for Member Monday?

Reservations are not currently required for Member Mondays.

How many times can I come to a ticketed exhibition?

You may visit a ticketed exhibition as many times as you’d like! Your number of tickets corresponds to your membership level. For example, a Dual/Family member can receive tickets for two adults and up to six children once a day for the length of the exhibition.

Can I bring a nonmember with me to ticketed exhibitions or member events?

Members receive limited guest passes to bring additional guests to special exhibitions. Please see the next question for additional information on guest passes.

With Dual/Family membership and higher, a named member can bring another adult guest as the second adult to ticketed exhibitions.

For free member events such as Member Monday, you may bring a nonmember guest with you. For paid member events such as an exhibition opening, you will need to purchase tickets for nonmember guests.

How many guest passes do I get, and how do I use my guest passes?

Individual, Dual/Family, Patron, Sustainer, and Benefactor members receive two guest passes per membership year. Fellow, Director’s Circle, Humber Society, and Collectors Cabinet members receive four guest passes per membership year.

Online, guest passes can be selected as the price type when reserving exhibition tickets. You may also request your guest passes in person at the Tickets and Information Desk or when booking tickets over the phone with our visitor experience team at (919) 715-5923.

Can I buy additional exhibition tickets at a discounted rate?

No, any additional guests (outside of your guest passes) will have to pay full price for ticketed exhibitions.

Do I have reciprocity to visit other museums for free or with a discount? What museums do we have reciprocity with?

Patron, Benefactor, Fellow, Director’s Circle, Humber Society, and Collectors Cabinet members receive reciprocity at more than 1,500 other museums. Our reciprocity is through Reciprocal Organization of Associated Museums (ROAM), North American Reciprocal Museum Association (NARM), and Southeastern Reciprocal Membership (SERM). Please check their websites for the most updated lists and to see what reciprocal museums offer in terms of free or reduced admission, as it can change from institution to institution.

Payment

If I renew early, will I lose time on my membership?

No! A full year will be added to the end of your current expiration date.

Is membership tax deductible?

Yes! Individual and Dual/Family memberships are fully tax deductible. Other membership levels’ deductibility are as follows: Patron $50, Sustainer $200, Benefactor $430, Fellow $955, Director’s Circle $2,455, Humber Society $5,165, Collectors Cabinet $8,895.

The amount of deductibility is determined by the fair market value of the cost-benefit amount of goods and services rendered. As a courtesy we send gift acknowledgments to everyone above the Patron level to confirm deductibility.

Can I pay for membership through a donor-advised fund, family foundation, IRA, or company matching gift?

You can pay for a membership through a donor-advised fund or family foundation but please be advised that, according to IRS policy, by doing so you are agreeing to decline your membership benefits. The IRS states that the Museum may not extend tangible benefits such as goods and services to those paying through a donor-advised fund or family foundation. Please purchase your membership through a personal account to receive all the benefits Museum membership has to offer.

If paying through an IRA, you receive all the benefits of membership.

Membership can be paid in full, and your company may match that gift. You cannot pay for half of your membership and have your company pay for the other half.

Can I pay to upgrade my membership in the middle of my membership term?

Yes. Please call membership at (919) 664-6754 or visit the Tickets and Information Desk in East Building to upgrade your membership. The cost to upgrade is the difference between what you paid for your membership and the new membership level. Benefits for the upgraded level will be available immediately, and your current expiration date will remain the same.

How does autorenewal work?

Autorenewal is an option for Individual, Dual/Family, Patron, Sustainer, and Benefactor membership levels. When you opt in, we automatically process your membership at the beginning of the month your membership is set to expire. You’ll receive an email the previous month letting you know that the charge will be processed.

You can opt out of autorenewal at any time by contacting membership at membership@ncartmuseum.org.

What age is considered a senior for the senior discount membership?

Anyone 65 and older is able to purchase a membership at the senior rate.
